Five facts about Odoo that change what your business could be doing

Odoo shipped four improvement releases between January and July 2026, and only installations hosted on Odoo Online received them. A company on Odoo.sh or on its own server jumps from major version to major version, so it has none of the four.

The practical consequence is that there are functions already paid for, published and documented that are not enabled in thousands of installations. Not through a decision, but because nobody has shown them.

These are the five facts that most change what an SME could be doing today with the Odoo it already has. Each one carries its source, and underneath the same question: do you have it in place?

Intermediate releases are only for Odoo Online

Odoo ships intermediate releases roughly every two months: 19.1 in January, 19.2 in March, 19.3 in May and 19.4 in July 2026. They only reach installations hosted on Odoo Online. On Odoo.sh and on your own server you jump from one major version to the next.

Odoo 17 goes out of support in September 2026

Odoo provides standard support for the three most recent major versions. When version 20 arrives in the autumn of 2026, the covered ones will be 20, 19 and 18. Version 17 falls out of cover, and 16 and earlier are already outside it.

Staying below those three has a cost written into the contract: the Enterprise Subscription Agreement adds a 25% annual surcharge on licences.

Your Odoo already reconciles any account and pays suppliers with one signature

Release 19.3, from May 2026, added bank reconciliation on any account, paying supplier invoices with a single signature, and agents able to create and update records. Release 19.4, from July, added MCP support, voice input and invoice-line prediction with automatic reconciliation.

If the installation is not on Odoo Online, neither of them is there.

Veri*Factu comes into force on 1 January 2027 for companies

Spain's verifiable invoicing system is mandatory for companies from 1 January 2027 and for everyone else from 1 July of the same year. In Odoo it is enabled with the standard Spanish localisation, not with custom development.

The median time spent reconciling a single bank account is four hours a month. It is a task repeated identically every month, with the same criteria, over data that is already in the system.

What to do with this

The five facts share one characteristic: none of them depends on the company changing tools. They depend on enabling what it already has, or planning for a date that is already set.

Checking which of them apply to a specific installation takes less than a minute, because only two pieces of information are needed: the version and where it is hosted.
